Netbooks-smaller versions of Laptops

Smaller version of a laptop which in turn will give u the freedom to surf on the go!!

They have smaller screens - typically sized at 10 inches. They are roughly at least a kilogram lighter than your average 14-inch laptop. Thus, weighing 1.5 kilos or less, they are quite light and portable - carrying them anywhere is quite easy.

In order to bring these devices to such compact dimensions, the optical drive is removed. These devices would be unsuitable for people who use CDs and DVDs on a daily basis. But most of them have 3 USB ports on them.

But the high battery life comes with a compromise -- processing power. Netbooks are just about powerful to handle day-to-day tasks like surfing the net, office applications or basic multi-media. Tasks like rendering large videos, playing High Definition (HD) movies or heavy photo editing are not suitable for such machines.

Get to know what's in the Netbook before buying one:
1.Most Net books are supported by Intel's Atom processor which draws less power as compared to normal lapy.

2.Go in for a 6 cell battery to a 3 cell battery since 3 celled one's give a max of 2-3 hrs of battery backup  while a 6 celled ones offer atleast 4-5 hrs of backup.

3.Look out for Windows 7 OS preinstalled netbooks, since Windows 7 gives a lighter feeling as compared to Windows Vista in terms of boot up time and resource management.

4.Want to check out a few, then try out this.
